A graduate student has created the first man-made biological leaf. It absorbs water and carbon dioxide to produce oxygen just like a plant. He did this by suspending chloroplasts in a mixture made out of silk protein. He believed it can be used for many things but the most striking one is the thought that it could be used for long distance space travel. Plants do not grow in space, but this synthetic material can be used to produce oxygen in a hostile environment. (Video)
So I was walking home from class and I got like a minute away from my place when this dude came up to me asking me random questions like “where are you from? Where do you study?”
I was creeped out and gave him one sentence answers. I was almost home and didn’t want to start anything.
Then he asked me where I lived. Like. What the fuck. So I waved my hand vaguely and said “close”. At this point I’m literally in front of my apartment and this dude is right behind me.
Thankfully at that point my flat mate walked up behind me, clearly noticing my discomfort and walked in with me.
The dude, still not getting the hint says “oh this close huh! What’s your name?”
and I walk in locking the door behind me.
I didn’t make eye contact with this creep once. Didn’t answer with more than a word once. He seems to think this is a conversation.
I hate dudes.
